Great Poland Genealogical Society "Gniazdo" including many
valuable resources from Poznań area: In modern years, the year
1990 was very symbolic for the Polish genealogy. Prior this year
it was not allowed to show interest or talk about their origin,
unless it was appropriate and consistent with the ruling of then
administration elite.

The Poznań Project was primarily conceived as a way to resolve a
problem common to many genealogists researching this area: the
19th century records rarely provide the precise location of
origin for people who left the Poznań/Posen province to settle
in America, Australia or elsewhere. Instead, the short label
"Posen" is usually all that is provided. |

The "Victims of repression under German occupation" was launched
in 2006 by the Institute of National Remembrance and the
Ministry of Culture and National Heritage . In 2006-2008, was
carried out by the Foundation "Center Card" , and since 2009 is
the executor of the Foundation "Polish-German Reconciliation." The primary goal of the program is to collect information on the victims scattered war and people oppressed by the German occupying forces in 1939-1945, processing them and creating an electronic version and allows access to the database to search for information about the fate of individuals.
